Not BLACK DAY, 17 August should be New Hope Day for Chakma Community in India.

Gandhi ji was so strongly opposed to partition of India in 1947 that Gandhi ji told Maulana Azad on 03/03/1947 “If the Congress wishes to accept partition, it will be over my dead body. So long as I am alive, I will never agree to the partition of India. Nor will I, if I can help it, allow the Congress to accept it". Partition was unfortunate and very painful but an irreversible event in the history of India. But some elements of our society feel that they are greater than our freedom fighters and want to undo the Partition of India. These elements also underestimate the understanding of the founding fathers of our Independent nation and also question the ability of our Chakma freedom fighters at that time. It is a disrespect to the efforts of our Chakma Freedom fighters like Mr Sneha Kumar Chakma when we observe BLACK DAY after 72 years of the partition of India, when we highlight that our Chakma community in India has not been able to move on with the times in the largest democracy in the world. It is a very regressive approach depicted by some elements of our society that are drenched in selfish motive to malign the image of he Chakma community in India. After 70 YEARS these elements wake up of deep slumber when our PM Narendra Modi ji has announced to celebrate Amrit Utsav on completion of 75 years of independence of India. It is time to move on with the nation towards a bright future rather than to dwell in despair, tragedy and hopeless irreversible history. Leadership should inspire the people towards hope and brighter future.
